APPLE WATCH – Hearing

  • Apple Watch is designed to help everyone be more active, healthy, and connected.
  • The Taptic Engine can give gentle taps for quick notifications, or more prominent taps for your important alerts.
  • And Scribble lets you quickly write or reply to messages by drawing letters on the display.
Noise App - Track your hearing health.

The Noise app tracks decibel levels of the ambient sounds around you, helping you identify when the sound levels of the environment could negatively impact your hearing. And the information is stored in the Health app so you can refer to your data whenever you need it.

Taptic Engine - Get a feeling for what’s going on.

With Apple Watch, we found a way to give technology a more human touch. It’s called the Taptic Engine, a linear actuator inside Apple Watch that produces haptic feedback. You’ll feel a gentle tap on your wrist every time a notification comes in. You can turn on Prominent Haptic to preannounce some common alerts. So you’ll never miss messages, mail, and other important events. And now Taptic Time can give you a tap to tell time on demand.

Scribble - Quickly jot letters that turn into text.

If you’re not using Voice Dictation and you can’t find the right Smart Reply to a message, you can write back by scribbling letters on the display, which Apple Watch converts to text.

Mono Audio - Find the right balance for you.

When you’re using Bluetooth headphones, you may miss some audio if you’re hard of hearing or deaf in one ear. That’s because stereo recordings usually have distinct left- and right-channel audio tracks. Apple Watch supports Mono Audio, allowing you to play both audio channels in both ears, and letting you adjust the balance for greater volume in either ear. So you can tune in or out as you like.
